الإعلامى الدكتور مجدي كامل الهواري يكتب : ازدواجية القوة: كيف تطالب واشنطن بنزع سلاح إيران النووي وتغض الطرف عن ترسانة إسرائيل؟

In a world that is supposed to be governed by international law and global conventions, a striking contradiction emerges—one that reflects a deeply rooted pattern of double standards in global politics. While Washington raises the banner of firmness and pressure against Iran’s nuclear program, demanding its dismantlement and imposing restrictions through every possible means, it simultaneously remains silent—if not openly supportive—regarding Israel’s nuclear arsenal, widely believed to be one of the most destabilizing elements in the Middle East.

This contradiction cannot be separated from the nature of the international system, one that is driven more by power dynamics than by principles. Legitimacy, in this system, is not measured by justice, but by influence and alliances. Iran, a state in ongoing confrontation with the West, is placed under constant scrutiny, subjected to sanctions, and persistently threatened under the justification of preventing nuclear proliferation. Meanwhile, Israel, a strategic ally of Washington, remains outside the scope of accountability, despite not being a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and possessing undeclared nuclear capabilities.

This duality raises fundamental and legitimate questions: Is the true objective to prevent nuclear proliferation, or to reshape the balance of power in a way that serves specific geopolitical interests? And how can the people of the region be convinced of the fairness of the international system when its rules are applied so selectively?

The continuation of such an approach does not merely undermine the credibility of major powers; it also paves the way for a regional arms race. Other nations, feeling the absence of genuine security guarantees, may seek to acquire similar deterrent capabilities. The real danger lies not only in the possession of such weapons, but in the deep sense of injustice that may drive escalation.

Within this fragile equation, the Middle East remains hostage to external power balances imposed from beyond its borders—balances that fail to reflect the aspirations of its people for peace and stability. While calls for nuclear disarmament grow louder, justice remains the essential foundation for any serious discussion about lasting peace.

The question remains: Can the world achieve true security without unified standards applied equally to all? Or will the logic of power continue to dominate, regardless of changing narratives?
